Focus on high-quality design at Heimtextil: textile designers, start-ups and trend area “Theme Park” provide new impetus.<\/h2>\n

The international home textile industry in Frankfurt am Main once again\u00a0exhibits clear growth and a launch of the new furnishing season with all indications pointing to success.\u00a0Martin Auerbach<\/strong>, Managing Director of the German Association of Home Textiles Manufacturers, has noticed a trend towards more materiality in interior design over the past year. This development was also reflected in the industry figures over the course of the year. Upholstery fabric in particular is currently experiencing a comeback.\u00a0Companies also appear satisfied with what is happening in the bed\u00a0segment and have achieved an increase in turnover of 3.9 per cent.
\nDesigner\u00a0Eva Padberg<\/strong>\u00a0during the press conference to open the trade fair,\u00a0gave insights into her work as a designer and told us about the\u00a0creative and craft-related challenges she faced with her first collection.\u00a0Additional prominent guests at this year’s Heimtextil include\u00a0Wolfgang\u00a0Joop<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Michael Michalsky<\/strong>\u00a0who, together with\u00a0A.S. Cr\u00e9ation<\/strong>, have\u00a0brought out new wallpaper collections, as well as\u00a0Harald Gl\u00f6\u00f6ckler<\/strong>, who\u00a0presented his 2017 collection at\u00a0Marburger Tapetenfabrik.<\/a><\/p>\n

Internationally unique offer of upholstery and d\u00e9cor fabrics and imitation leather, has experienced considerable growth over the past three years, and new suppliers have also attended, particularly from Italy, Spain, Poland and Turkey. This makes the segment an ever more important point of contact for contract furnishers and architects.<\/p>\n

Another driver of growth is the product segment “bed<\/em>“: from the machine via the fibre to the end product of a mattress, bed cover or pillows, new to the offer are accessories such as lamps or bathroom items that complete the portfolio and thus also offer an opportunity for dealers to expand their product ranges.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Hall 4.2<\/em>\u00a0we have seen the world’s largest platform for textile design\u00a0under the roof of “Design live”, where 230 international studios presented their\u00a0new designs.<\/p>\n

Digital print<\/h4>\n

<\/a>\u00a0In the new to hall 6.0 \u201cDigital Textile Micro Factory<\/em>” the product group “digital print technology<\/em>” with its machine suppliers for digital print processes continues to be a focus. A variety of international market leaders are once again on board, such as\u00a0Epson<\/a><\/span>, HP,\u00a0Mimaki<\/a>\u00a0and the Italian company\u00a0MS Printing.<\/a>\u00a0Visitors experienced here a complete digital production chain live, from the design, digital printing and finishing to automatic cutting and confection.\u00a0In the same\u00a0Hall 6.0<\/em>\u00a0the “Theme Park<\/em>” gave trend and inspiration to visitors and exhibitors in a passionate explosion of new design products with the overarching theme “Explorations”, an accompanying programme\u00a0of talks and guided tours into new design projects. For the 2017\/18 season, a team of six international design studios have isolated the most important themes from various general trends. The French agency\u00a0Carlin International<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>with its Berlin partner\u00a0Exalis<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>took on the main responsibility for doing so.<\/p>\n
